I just purchased a set of Bertoia Diamond Chairs that had been left outside for the last several yrs. I didn't notice it until I got home, but when you get within a couple of feet of them you start to smell a horrible rotten egg like odor. when you get up close to the metal it's even worse and really horrible. I was planning on putting a spray paint primer on and then spray painting the chairs and was wondering if after I do this the smell will still be there or if there is some other way I can get rid of it...HELP!
i've...
i've spray painted a number in the past and the paint holds up amazingly well over time (and at $3 per chair vs $200-300 per chair it's a bit more practical)
the only thing i care about is the smell. will the paint cover the smell, and if not, what can i do to get rid of it.

How intriguing.
Maybe they came into contact with a skunk at some point in their life? Or the previous owners lived next to a paper mill? Put them in the bathtub with tomato juice. Or white vinegar.
Where are all the chemists out there? I seem to remember from 10th grade chemistry that rotten egg smell=sulfur. True?
