OK. I've had these vintage tall back chairs for a long while. I never figured out who manufactured or designed them. They came with a Glenn of CA table, so they could be as well. High quality construction - if they look a little lumpy in the pics its because the foam is completely dry and they need to be re-foamed. SO. I went to Caboom design fair in Santa Monica a few months ago. Picked up a catalog from the Tom Dixon booth and there they were! Some remarkably similar (not exact though) Tall Chairs. I just think its bizarre, like he must have seen some somewhere and was "inspired" by the design. Which would mean mine must exist somewhere else (so I SHOULD be able to figure out what they are). OR he came up with these without being influenced by another tall back design... Anyhow, I thought it was weird enough coincidence I would post it! Dixon's are the blue ones!

Or maybe they aren't all that similar in the first place and its all in my head.....

mine
mine came with a round table, but it actually looked pretty good. Craft associates! not the prognosis I wanted, but that makes sense. I had other people go "Milo Baughman!" but I think everything is a Baughman these days... so I highly doubted it. It makes sense because Craft Associates... sometimes does these cheesy over the top sort of designs.

I like 'em both, but would...
I like 'em both, but would pick the vintage ones if I could.
I also like Tom Dixon, although his designs tend to be inspired by the work of others. That table, for instance, reminds me of this:

I like yours better than Tom Dixon's
but I'd like yours even more if they were reupholstered in a less obviously-vintage fabric.
(The sunset-hued stripe is okay on its own terms, but it also reeks of 1960's grooviness, which sort of overwhelms the chair design.)

The Tom Dixon
Table reminded me of an ercol dining table..
but then we could get into the 'it's all been done before' debate 😉

re-upholster...
some people LOVE the upholstery and some people hate it. I was going to get them re-foamed. but it will be so much cheaper to keep the upholstery the same. I don't think I can afford to get them completely redone right now.... just the foam...

Here's a chair that bears...
Here's a chair that bears the "Craft Associates" label. Take a look at the legs....they look almost identical to yours. They used these legs with several different backs.
