I have a few eiffel side chairs, made by vitra with the infamous plastic shell (which I enjoy a lot btw). I'm trying to furnish my home office with eiffel wire chair, and maybe a modernica fiberglass rocking chair. As much as I didn't care for the side chairs, I think the armchair looks better with a fiberglass shell.
Due to "intellectual and copyright laws", modernica won't send them to europe and I find the 800+ euros Vitra is asking for the wire chair a bit too expensive for my liking, especially when the modernica version is $250.
Are Modernica eiffel base any different than Vitra ones?
Anyone know a way to "smuggle" modernica chairs out of the USA?

Ebay? I've seen wire chairs on there all the time. I'm sure you can find a good set of DKR's for less than the new Vitra price.

sorry,
get rather the modernica then the new vitra....
the modernica is much more nice.
but best buy the original on ebay you can make amazing deals. i bought 5 rockers last month,
old armshells on new base......so nice

Thanks, I'll mail modernica-be. They are not advertising them on their website though.
ebay is too much of a hassle, and I don't care that much for "vintage".
