Just curious as to what you fellow DA board members use for a TV stand? I was thinking of a Nelson bench,as i have no room for a wall unit/entertainment center.Any other suggestions?

I am using IKEA's Liden. I think it looks great.

A Nelson bench would be too low in my opinion, plus nowhere to hide any unsightly wires. I use a (low) Danish sideboard which works nicely.

Here is my solution:
it's the Kartell OXO cart.
It works well...handles 110 lbs, and my DVD player and cable box fit perfectly.
And...it's cool and funky. I probably wouldn't want it in the living room, but I specifically bought this house to get the TV and stereo out of the living room....

2 cents.
The bench is nice, and well if that is all you have try it out. But, I think it's to low, I have mine on a Paul McCobb dresser, in the living room a small credenza/ Buffet would work. I also like some of the other suggestions.

I am using a Webcor moderne stereo cabinet, I made the gold fabric grill removable, took out all of the electronics, and put all of my equipment in.

I've thought
I'm in the same boat. I really like the Eames Storage units - the 2x2 with doors. Wide enough for the cable box and dvd player. But not so techy looking, and the cables will be hidden down the back.
I've also looked at some new production pieces - DWR has a nice walnut credenza thing with sliding doors. Price aside it's just too big for my needs.
Ideally I'd love to find a small vintage hutch/credenza that someone else (not me) had hacked a hole in the back for cable management. I also really like sliding doors because you can put the ugly components behind them - but they're not too obtrusive when you inevitably have to open them to use the remote.
Or I may just continue with my TV on a milk crate like it is now. 🙂

Royal System
Wired sockets and ariels into the wall and put all the other stuff (dvd and hard drive recorder etc.) in the cabinet below

For those of you
that want your flat screen in the living room, then there's a bunch of beautiful choices.
In my case, pix above, I wanted something movable and high-tech-ey, so the Kartel OXO cart works perfectly (behind the TV is a seldom used storage closet and it's nice to roll the TV cart out of the way,).

ikea again
The Stockholm tv cabinet is really nice for the money. It has the look of teak and the nice part is that the doors slide back into the cabinet instead of flapping down or up and being in the way.
Only 300 smackers.

Wall mount?
Isn't one of the selling points of a flat screen TV the fact that it can be mounted on the wall? If we had one, that is what I'd do.

I agree with the wall-mount suggestion!
I'm one of the few people alive who doesn't yet own a flat screen, but the wall's where mine will live... someday. Putting a flat screen atop a piece of furniture is akin to putting a painting, on a display stand, atop a piece of furniture-- illogical waste of table space.
I'm also one of the few people alive who's never actually BEEN to an Ikea store-- Spanky, that piece LOOKS surprisingly good in the photo (for 300 bucks!). Is the material some sort of slick wood-grain laminate, up close?

Flat screen TV advice
is a lot like child-rearing advice-- ever notice how childless people always think they know best how to raise children? Same thing here.
(I'm also a know-it-all when it comes to raising kids... naturally, I have none:)
