If I remember well...
we discussed secondary uses of products, particularly chairs.....I guess it was just before we started to discuss the Barcelona chair....but this use was not part of it. Maybe we could start a club similar to the 30.000 feet club, but instead of height we might take famous chairs as a standard....what do you think Vivienne...

Well, I personally can vouch for the Case Study Sofa
I'd put that one the list of modernism with alternative uses

Why ask me?..
Since you ask though..I have "Bonked" on most of my pieces of furniture and have never had any breakages..except my heart!.One of my chairs is really suited, its almost on its last legs now though,a bit like me. Beds, chairs, tables (not the glass one honey..too cold, and watch the candlestand!),rugs, bath, kitchen worktop etc. oh yes and one of my beds.Anywheres ok in my book, after all we all do it,it doesnt need to have a design label on it for me honey!.

Let us now praise office conference tables...
When I was just starting out, I had an older friend (then seemingly ancient at 35) who appeared the most dashing and worldly fellow I could then imagine. Work was, for him, just the ante for participating in indoor sports. He frequently worked late without, as he said, increasing his productivity one little bit. He was a great inspiration to a young man that there was more to work than work. This fellow championed conference tables, especially glass ones. He said a glass conference table was the office romance equivalent of working a high wire act in the circus. When I asked him: wasn't it kind of cold for the woman? He smiled and said, "Not if you're a gentleman and lay your coat down first." He was the first man to advise me on the absolute necessity of wearing fully lined sport and suit coats, for the lady's sake, of course. Ah, to be even 35 again. 🙂

Think twice
I'm going to think twice before sitting in people's furniture. 🙂

The problem with my glass table is that it always set out ready for dinner and so would require a certain amount of preparation and clearing first...im not that patient. James..also watch out when you buy a car honey,i once knew a car salesman...Oh and i do have a cleaning lady.

Another idea I wished I had thought of...
I know the guy who ownes this website/company. He solely uses modernist pieces as props for erotic fine art photography. Frankly, I think his work is so so, but I do love the concept. I have loaned him my Gio Ponti tall artisan ladderback chair in exchange for a large format original.
I hope I will be invited to the shoot - you know...to assist in the art direction and so forth....

The gays...
I've seen a high frequency of design classics appear in gay porn. I'm not sure if this is because the gays prefer designer furniture, or simply because I dont really look at straight porn (and therefore dont notice the design classis the straights use). Whichever it is I've seen Eames (DCW, 670, DAX, DSX, Side chair contract base) I've seen LC4 (your choice, white or black leather) A nelson marshmallow sofa, and a few Bertoias (ouch! think of the waffle marks!)
I can tell you that if anyone started being amorous on my furniture I'd probably freak out... I dont sit in half the stuff I have, let alone "boink" on it...thats what my roommates Ikea furniture is for.

True..
but would Ikea "furniture" stand the boink test?,not the boinkers i know honey, i dont think so.There is a worldwide overused and stereotypical saying by certain straight people that goes"I know lots of gay people, most of my friends are gay" i dont know why they say this, but i was thinking the other day (Jeffrey episode) and in my case its true! most of my work colleagues are gay men and when im out i turn into the proverbial drunken woman surrounded by gays. For the most part,my gay friends have excellent taste both in design and men!,this has nothing to do with the fact they are gay of course but just means they have good taste. I hate pigeonholes like "gay" ,"straight" and "they",but i said that to get my point over.Ive never seen any hardcore gay porn but theres always tomorrow...
