A very vintage 2-seater leather sofa by Eilersen from Denmark courtesy of the GW priced at $9.99 because the 'the leather looks so old'.
An interesting construction for a fully upholstererd sofa, The back and arm cushions unzips from the main frame and suddenly the entire thing fits in the back seat of the SUV.

Picked up a huge unmarked black ceramic planter at Salvation Army today. It is 17" outside diameter by 13.5" tall. I'm not very well versed in ceramics, but initially thought it might be Gainey or Architectural Pottery. However mine has a thinner shell with inward facing flat lip, while all the G and AP photos I've come across have thicker walls and no lips.
Now I need to find the right spot in the house and plant for it.
Ash (I think) DCM, Herman Miller first gen with domes of silence. The figure on the backrest definitely has potential so I couldn't pass it up even though I have too many already. The wood would look so much better with a little bit of sanding and oil and I'd planned to plug the holes, but it's tempting to leave it as-is with the old repair and dilapidated shock mounts. lots of character. The bolt heads were even counter sunk! (with a dull knife...)
2 pieces from the Omnibus Wall Unit System imported by Raymor, designed by Sven Ellekær and built by Albert Hansens Møbelfabrik. My first teak case goods! The angled ceiling of my top floor apartment means they'll never end up on the wall but that's alright.
to be honest these aren't the most recent. I picked up a few danish chord projects this week that I'm excited about (wishbones and ch23s). Should be fun.
Love that Piet Hein game niceguy! so cool
I got this fab rosewood Erik Buch fold away bar this week, a bit of a cleaning needed. One of the circular pulls is missing a bit of rosewood and one of the rollers underneath is a little rusted. Other than that it's in very good nick! It was also a bargain which always helps! These are the pictures taken before I brought it home....it was seriously heavy!
I acquired some nice pieces lately, but often with some (annoying) issues.
For instance a huge, masculine looking rosewood desk and cabinet by Sibast (metal hinged pulls)...but with faded top.
Or a nice early birch series sideboard by Pastoe...missing its typical laminated legs.
Well, I plan to give the rosewood back it's original lustre (which finish would you suggest to top it of?) and some two years ago I followed a workshop about bending would (steam bending & laminating) so maybe I'll try replicating the curvy legs myself.
In the mean time I scored a playful armchair, designed by Willy Van Der Meeren for Tubax/Belgium.
I saw this chair standing in a classroom, between all new chairs, when I was into woodworking lessons.
Must be 3 years ago or so.
I tried all sorts of contacts and routes to obtain the chair, but nothing worked: to big a school, to much people, to much red tape.
I went back the other day, rather impulsive, and there was a new rector: for the price of a new school chair the Van Der Meeren is now mine!
Alas, with some issues 🙂 The otherwise pristine upholstery is worn out at one corner.
What to do in such a case? I rather not replace the vinyl, as it's very typical and replacements on this kind of chair affects it's value. But I need to fix it some way to insure it doesn't rip any further.
WHOA, Jesgord. I'm so envious. I love Swedish rugs. Are you gonna hang it on the wall or put it on the floor?
I got a free Overman sofa today, or something that looks very much like an Overman, anyway. The black vinyl is all sticky and gross and stale-smelling and it's still in my hot car and I'll probably keel over next time I have to drive somewhere. It's going into storage for now but eventually I'll redo it in a nice wool and sell it, I guess. They're fun to redo.
Spanky-Not sure yet what I will be doing with the rug. At the moment, it is out being cleaned. There was another wool rug at the same shop that seems to have come in at the same time as this one. I initially wrote it off as Mexican (which it may well be) but I'll be going back tomorrow to give it a closer look. Hopefully, it's still there.
