Beautiful fabric!
Does anybody else see the James Harvey Crate TC3 table lamp?
Cheers, Willem.

Mark,
I am also a book guy. Twenty years ago I bought two sets of the Beatrix Potter The Tale of Peter Rabbit 0000 of 1175 limited edition cased set for Frederick Warne & Co. One for my mother and on for me. This is good.

Too fancy and extravagant for me personally but a sterling silver and ebony Art Nouveau coffee and tea pots for $1 each designed by Georg Jensen in 1915, I just could not say no.

Look at this painting
I'd swap the fabric for something but I don't know that there is enough for an entire jacket...
I noticed the lampyness too... one of those lamps sold for 8750 last year at auction, holy cow.

The book Fifties Furniture has info. on Harris Strong plaques. I think they have kind of a sleeper appeal.

Peruche - that table is fabulous. Never seen one in person. Really great find.
We just picked up a very crusty old Womb chair and ottoman this afternoon. Has been reupholstered at least one, and poorly at that. It is incredibly heavy, so I suspected that it was a wood/mdf version rather than fiberglass - peeling back the upholstery has confirmed that suspicion.
May be a while before we get to reupholstering this one...

teakhound,
Nice Find! I wanted you to know that I have traveled the road that you are about to take. It is a long and tedious route but worth it once you reach the end. Here is a couple pics of the project I took on. I bought my Eero Saarinen designed womb chairs & ottomans from the Neal Auction Company in New Orleans, Louisiana a few years back. It is almost impossible to find someone with a vat large enough to resurface the chrome on the bases. I decided to have the bases stripped and powder coated as close to the original black as I could find. I bought the Knoll Classic Boucle fabric from a dealer on Ebay. Knoll calls the color I chose "Smoke". I stripped the chairs down to the fiberglass and applied fresh G-30 foam. I purchased new glides from Knoll International in Miami. The glides costs around $3 each plus shipping. I am blessed to have a childhood friend that is a 3rd generation master upholsterer. Make sure you are confident in the upholsterer you choose because these chairs are extremely difficult to reupholster. Mrs. Peruche & I are very happy with the way the womb chairs turned out. Without a doubt and by far the most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. These wonderful chairs will be in our private collection for the rest of our lives......

So handsome. It's a remarkable chair, isn't it. I was intrigued to hear that there was production in wood before a fiberglass shell was substituted. Did the designer and maker try metal, too ?
In order to avoid the staining and other defects seen in the "before" photos, what will you and the Mrs do differently than the previous owners ? I think of the hand-marks at the front edge of the arms, for instance . . .

Peruche -
That is a gorgeous set. A labor of love, to be sure. Really like the gray upholstery on black legs and chromed feet.
You might say that this is not my first womb rodeo. Having been through the womb chair runaround before, I would not be taking on such a project again were it not for the unique (to us) MDF structure.
Re chrome, we do have some chromers in the Van Nuys, CA area that should have vats big enough for this chair, but I may just leave it as-is. Thanks for the note on the G30 foam – I may try this myself. Sounds like fun, and it would be a good excuse to fully strip the chair. Always amazed by the flow of knowledge on this forum 🙂
