I bought a Marcel Mouly from my favorite charity resale store.  The gals served me cupcakes and white wine.  Lovely frosting. Best,Aunt Mark

Mark, I also picked up a Marcel Mouly at a thriftstore once, many years ago, a signed print.
The other day I got a Quistgaard teak and bamboo pepper mill, and one of his ice buckets.

Why it's simply a signed and numbered lithograph, with a piece of paper in an envelope attached to the back.  It matches/blends with a pair of pants that I occcasionally wear.

Dearest tchp,
Hopefully your Mouly came with cupcakes and wine (and a bear-hug from a portly gal).
Best,
Your Aunt Mark

I think we may need to see a snappy of the matching pants. This could be important. Too long between snappies anyway.

Woody,
Your new home looks quite sweet.  What year was the structure built?  I like the mix.
Best, and congrats..

Thanks tchp & Mark.  The house was built in 1880.  All brick exterior.  It's something of a project, for sure.

The latest LED lightbulbs are bright enough to replace 100-watt incandescents, so I bought one.  Now, 75 years after Walter Dorwin Teague designed it, the Polaroid 114 lamp is finally usable.

The color on some of the new LEDs is great, but a number of those sold now buzz audibly if dimmed, even on an led-compatible dimmer. I'm looking forward to a good 100 watt that dims well, has good color rendering, and doesn't buzz . . .

Speaking of Walter Dorwin Teague, I found this cedar lined box he designed for Kodak at a yard sale a few years ago for $1. No camera, but I'm not complaining!

I went to a rummage sale at a large assisted living complex the other day, something I never do anymore.  It was mobbed and there were tables and tables piled with junk.  I waded through it, thinking that there was nothing there.  Then on one of the last tables, I spotted this large lamp of unglazed biscuit-colored pottery with incised patterns glazed in white.  The shade was huge and old and ugly and I nearly knocked over a few elderly people just trying to get through the crowd with it.  I left the shade with the checkout ladies so they could resell it, and they gave me a $2 discount on the lamp, bringing it to $8.
I thought I would resell it but once I got it home, I saw how great it looks with my other stuff.  So I got a new shade for it and am keeping it.  Woo!
