Time for a new batch?
Today, I bought this small acrylic?? painting from my fav local charity store. I don't know much about it (neither did the gal's that run the store), except that whilst blazed..I can't easily read the sig, but I can read 1967....and I kind of like it.
Hello,
Aunt Mark
ps how do I find out more? I googled the artists name..but it is spelled out quite weird. It is Summno.T.OT I could be wrong. Yup.
??
Looks like
that's the right guy, whatever his name is.
I like the abstract painting, I really do.
But seeing his other stuff reminds me once again how it always gets to me when I see that an artist has done all four: still life, landscape, portraits, and "abstracts", dabbling in each as if they are all pre-fab genres that need to be checked off.
How come there is never anything in between? Or some overlapping weird stuff?
Perhaps it is because they are the "big four" categories of painting, and artists feel pressure to prove themselves in each? I still wish he only did one thing, rather than everything. Rant over.
Not
If you like warm, sort of RUSTY colors. It will get more "abstract" outside.
I am guessing we will get a photo of it nuzzing up against the wheel cover, but I think it merits an indoor location. Its a very strong painting, from what I can see.
PS Damn, that was a fast edit Mark! (I was answering your question about putting it outdoors next to the hubcap.)
