I JUST
did the BKF trick on a japanese mcm table chock full of rings and stains. Left it on overnight (which I have had the best luck with) and it looks tremendous. Maybe I'll post a pic.
EDIT - Pic w. a harsh flash. Not bad. Not sure what the wood is...has a tiger grain to it...dunno.
It has very danish legs. A very danish piece. Nicely marked JAPAN. Weird.

Southern Maryland, about 60 miles south of Washington DC...everyone down here just wants to decorate with primitaves and boreing shabby chic country crap...and I just creep around and scoop up the good stuff! Fortunatly this is kinda rural down here but there is a large navy base...which has brough people to live here from all over the country/world who luckily brought some cool mid century stuff! and left it behind... you would not belive where i found that coffee table at....and no one but me had a clue what it was..
P.S. dont think about comin down here....this is my territory! 8^) jk
Kaleidoscope clock
Pegboard, your clock find inspired me to post a picture of two of the newer additions to my clock collection. I got the Compass clock a while back and the Diamond Markers clock recent. I have the Kaleidoscope clock already and the Whirly-gig desk clock, making a total of four of the Motion-Notion clocks in the series. Always a rare find.

My twin sister is 40 or so miles out of DC and I've had great finds there too- She, and her husband, are keen sales and auction-goers, but are much more country too.
I, however, have had great finds small and large. Some I sell when i'm there, a few things I haul back to the UK
Creative Playthings Rocker for $20... Moller stool for $20, loads of good Danish 'smalls' etc.
table and some advice
a Capiz and mahogany table.
It was BEAT when I bought it. Sanded down nicely. The Capiz was covered in Shellac (I am 95% sure) that had begun to fail. I was able to get it off (not easily)
QUESTION - What should I re-seal the Capiz shell top with? Someone who knows more about this than do I suggested redoing it with Shellac. That was my first thought as well but am looking for input.
EDIT - just touched up the wood with a bit of oil and it looks most lovely.
UPDATE - Pic w/ a little oil.. much nicer. Still in a conundrum on how to seal the shells by the seashore.
