Hi all,
I recently purchased a Knut Hesterberg propeller table. It's in good shape, minus some surface scratches I believe were done by the previous owner in a failed attempt to repair less significant scratches. The scratches exceed what I would call age appropriate patina. Fortunately they are just on one side of the aluminum base.
Should I leave it as is, or should I put some work into it and bring it to a nice polish? I'm looking for a general consensus. I plan on selling it in the future, so it goes beyond my personal preference and into the realm of what the market wants.
I've attached a picture to show the severity... or lack thereof.
Any experience/info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Josh
I say leave it. Every one of these that I have seen has looked like that. Given that it is a coffee table and likely had a piece of glass over it for the lat few decades, the scratches you see are probably factory, not wear.
Plus, when they are polished to the nines, they are impossible to keep looking clean...
