Hey, We're located in NY and I have this designer dining room table by John Stuart. Looking to actually find out more information about it and what it's value might be.
Expandable Table in Chestnut (I believe) with 6 high back chairs. It's in brand-new like condition. Beautiful design and quality. Emerald seat cushions with woven ratan/weave. Table inserts/pads in same condition, like new. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

John Stuart
It is my belief that he was a dealer/importer of fine Danish Modern furniture who had a showroom (one of the first air-conditioned showrooms) in New York .
I purchased a Finn Juhl chair from a man who told me that he purchased it there in the 1950s.

I have
sold some J. Stuart as well and came across that same information (heck, maybe here). I think I had a piece that was co-branded France & Sons AND John Stuart.

RE:
Yeah my family found out some of the info when we got it. We're looking to find the designer. I've actually gotten to really love it and designer furniture in general just looking into it now. It's got so much history. But it also amazes me how well the condition has been kept all these years, even the pads are mint. There's also a tag taped on the bottom somewhere of the original designer selling it to Jon Stuart, says "Sold to: John Stuart, Inc.". (Picture shown)
We would like to sell it though since we're unable to keep and use it. I've looked around on 1stdibs and other websites where some JS dining room chairs have sold alone for around $400 or more each. I figure with the condition it's in and the design of it, it's a very nice piece in my mind. I know this is more of a forum so I'm not sure what the restrictions are if it's not the place to inquire into value but any places where I might be able to or possibly sell it to the right person would be nice.

Dont base your price on what...
Dont base your price on what you see on 1stdibs.
The prices you see there are generally about double what a realistic retail price would be.

Pricing
That's understandable. I figured I would find this as a better source. I was going to estimate about $3-4,000 for the set and the right buyer maybe. Given that it's in pristine condition and hasn't been redone in anyway. Feel free to let me know your thoughts. I'd love to find the actual designer as well.
