Come Monday morning, bright and early, I start my job as a carpenter's apprentice. I'm sick of graphic design. Computers can kiss my ass. I am beginning to hate them (I proclaim as I type on my new Mac). I think I'm a nut job.

Good, Whitespike, by your title,
I thought you were getting pious. I see you're the same wonderful smart-ass we've all come to love.
Best of luck in your new biz.

Welcome
to the club ! (I'm going to hang a pair of hinged garage doors tomorrow, after a couple of weeks of "garage shopping" them. . .) Watch those fingers ! You'll have a new respect for wood and tools, that's for sure. Or have you been there already ?
Tell us how it goes. SDR

There is nothing better for the soul than building something...
And the trades cannot be outsourced the way all things digital can be.

I've been
happy as a non-union cabinetmaker. There's always work, for the worthy, worth what you can get for it.
What will you do at DWR, whitespike ? Sounds like an opportunity. . .

DWR
I've been told that DWR pays a solid base salary plus commission. They also give a massive employee discount. Hope you get the job.

Austin, TX. I like the idea...
Austin, TX. I like the idea of a solid salary, but I don't know if it is right for me yet. I am a songwriter/musician and will be doing some touring soon. Carpentry is such an honest career, and I think it can lead to many things ... building case goods, redoing houses, traveling and building via mission work, etc. I think I could tour and always find decent work on my off times. Austin is building and renovating constantly these days. Plus, I hear hard work can replace your therapist 🙂
While a discount would be great, I don't really desire much more than I own. I like living simply and I have what I like for the most part. I think these days I am more interested in acquiring knowledge, life experiences and happiness rather than acquiring things.
A steady life comes at a price.

Chair
If you look close, seems that Jesus is sitting on an Eames DCW. Looks like he's saying" My left hand wants to make cabinets and my right want to sell furniture, maybe I should just get into real estate".

Good Lord. My first day was torture in the heat. Turns out they build nothing but decks. I don't know how much that's gonna help me. I want to learn to build cabinets.
