As I understand
The top screw holds the mill together and is unscrewed in order to take it apart and fill the peppercorns. I have not attempted to verify this myself though. Some of the earlier Dansk mills were also assembled this way.
How do you fill the pepper on your mill?

the other mill
i've included a picture below. it's a bit awkward, i must admit, but w/ a slight pull, the mill separates at the middle seam (probably similar to how and where it comes apart for you) and the interior pole of the mill appears to run above and below the seam point as well. once separated, there is plenty of room to simply add peppercorns to the open section within the center of the shaft.

Candle holders by Laurdis Lonborg
Two red candle holders are by Laurdis Lonborg, the small ones by Selandia, and the brass one by Dansk. All of them thrift store finds.

Lønborg designers
Hello Caco.
Most if not all of the wodden animals, and the candelstick holders you posted, was designed by Gunnar Flørning, who had a partnership with L. Løborg from 1955-1965 within the compagny : A/S Aniform.
The napkins are deigned by Lena Eklund
