I thought I would share because it's an extremely impressive collection of Eames stuff along with many others. There's actually a few things I've seen on this forum through searches that are many years old and some prototypes I never knew existed.

I believe this is mostly or entirely the collection of J.F. Chen.

@woodywood that's what I was thinking. I've seen many of the chairs in the online videos of the J.F. Chen collection.

Just curious, which pieces do you think are particularly compelling or impressive?

Yeah the Alexander Girard "mural" looks like he was riffing off of the famous Gene Davis stripe paintings.
Maybe we will get the Chen collection chair list back on the Eamesdesigns website once the auction is over… it's about time.

I've been following this auction all day and the various chairs seem to be going for way higher than I would have thought, a 1960's tandem went for $7500 apparently.

The high prices might be due to the fact that many of these pieces were part of the landmark Eames exhibition at the LA Museum, and now have documentation that is as good as it gets.
(So much for the yearly claims of the demise of MCM)

Even back then almost sixty years ago, not that many can really afford an authentic Eames chair as seen in this 1957 ad. The majority of everyone who embraced modernism was to acquire the more affordable knock-offs and the look alikes that confuses many persisting even to this day.

Always nice to see old advertisements. Thanks, Minimoma.
In 2015 dollars, those 1957 prices are:
DAX - Regularly $365, now $227.
DSR - Regularly $255, now $158.
RAR - Regularly $408, now $254.
2015 retail prices, for comparison:
DFAX: $549
DFSR: $429
RFAR: $649
