I have these chairs. Six of them. At some point I'll put some more appropriate fabric on the seats. The wood is in great shape overall and all but a couple of joints on the six chairs are tight. We'll work on the couple that need the attention. No marks. They're obviously similar in style to a handful of chairs by notable Danish designers. I don't pretend to think they're of any significant value. What I'd like to know is what type of wood you folks think they might be made of. I've gotten mahogany fewer times than I've gotten teak and it's above my pay grade. There are several images of the chairs attached including a closeup of the grain...

As usual, I appreciate your input.

100%. I've seen that dark stripe from time to time. Close-up leaves not doubt, to me . . .

Oh, i read that thread and learned that lesson a couple of times. I'm doing my best not to step into any large holes or particularly big piles...

Mahogany-ish.
The grain on the back in the closeup appears interlocked, thus not a true mahogany. Possibly one of a few tropical species commonly sold as mahogany, though.
Not that it makes any real difference.
