LRF and M Andersen I love your spaces
Andersen, I particularly like the purple walls in the bedroom. Typically I think that intense of a wall color is difficult to live with, but all the white and the light floors helps to balance it. It seems so fresh, and in a color that is usually reserved for children's spaces, surprisingly adult and not juvenile at all. I want to live there.

When I saw my house for the first time
I wasn't too impressed. Greyish wall-to-wall carpet, plain white walls and that big fireplace being center stage. It was the first house I looked at a year ago last February when I finally got it together to get out of my little house with the L shaped living dining room that looked like a warehouse.
It has taken me the longest time to furnish the living room and over the last year and a half, I have been accumlating nice pieces that have come my way affordably.
I got used to the carpet and white walls - it's a clean, simple look, but that fireplace is a bore. I should paint it white, but I'm not a fan of painted brick.
When i finally got the sofa, I arranged things and took the picture.
Like all living spaces, it's a work-in-progress...perhaps I will move some pieces into other rooms (I have a finished basement that hasn't been organized too well, as well as a room upstairs that I might turn into a sitting room).
The living room does not look as cluttered as it does in the photo, however. I've gotten compliments from the people who have seen it, to my everlasting surprise!
I may move the sofa in front of the bay window and move the grasshopper chair into the area in front of the fireplace, creating a more traditional arrangement. Time will tell.

Perhaps the room doesn't read well on camera.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised when I see pics of my house, it looks better than I think in person. I suppose the opposite could be true.

Thanks, jesgord and dorieg...
Thanks, jesgord and dorieg 🙂
Most likely because of my camera's flash the purple colour in my bedroom actually looks less dark and masculin on the pictures than it really is. The purple paint is also quite glossy so it reflects the natural light very nice.
I chose this colour because I don't sleep very well in white rooms. While painting I moved my bed into my dining room/kitchen. There it's all white and I found myself having trouble falling a sleep, even with all the lights out, and I also started waking up early without being able to really fall a sleep again.
The dark purple colour is a mixture between both blue and red, which I find perfect for the different moods you experience in a bedroom. It also creates a cozy, cave-like atmosphere.
The first picture from my bedroom is more accurate regarding the tone of the purple colour. It looks almost pastel-like on the second picture. That I would find too girly 🙂
