I could be clutching at straws here, but you know what they say " If you fiddle around long enough, you end up playing a tune " We are based in England and found quite an anonymous little square table on castors, probably 70's. It consists of a chrome frame with glass top and teak under shelf. It has a label stating," An M.D.A. Product for Howard Miller, Sussex England ". Could this be the same Howard Miller, clock maker and brother of Herman Miller ? if so, does the table have any relevance. Input welcome
I Know a Little..
As you already know they were based in Sussex (think it was near Arundel somewhere, but I could be wrong)
They produced mostly coffee tables, drinks trolleys and dining sets it would seem.
I'm not sure where they retailed, but they are sort of cheaper version of the Merrow Associates stuff..often with teak veneers, instead of their rosewood, and the steel/chrome is never quite as good...
I've even seen HM marked pieces with fake rosewood/ plastic finishes.
Thank you for the reply
Robert,
Thank you for the reply. So I'm right in thinking that this table is one and the same company which is the splinter company, Howard Miller, son of Herman Miller ? also, any idea where I might find some reference or infact, do the company still have a branch based in England ??
Ask them.
Why don't you just contact the Howard Miller company and ask them some of these questions?
