Olympic Stadium Munich
We had a visit to Ingolstadt earlier in the year with work, we had a bit of free time so we spent the afternoon in the Olympic Stadium Munich its is a great looking complex although sadly its not used as much since the Allianz stadium opened down the road, it feels a bit eerie being alone in such a large space designed to hold thousands of people
On our look around we had a peek into the commentary box and they had a good number of fibreglass Eames Side chairs on a four star castor base, they had a green tweed like covering, the green was a very similar shade to that of the stadium seating.
They really suited the whole feel of the stadium and were in great shape it would be a shame to take them away but at the same time it would be a nice bit of history to own
Apologies for the poor picture it was a really bright day and I couldnt get a good shot through the glass

buckets in Munich
That stadium was built in 1970 for the Olympics in 1972.
That was the height of the Eames buckets and side shells and i am sure Vitra got that contract. I bet there are so many of those chairs around that venue they would be hard to count.
In my opion i think it would be worth something to own one of those chairs from that stadium., as that was one of the saddest Olympics on record with the Munich massacrer.
those chairs never really ...
those chairs never really surfaced here in America, they are the trademark bases that vitra uses although Europe.,
and still does on the lounge chair .
any swival that you see on a bucket or sideshell was the alumium group base
that was produced in the 60's by Herman Miller. (Here we are two different bases for the same chair separated by birth )
Getting back to the original topic
I just walked into the sandwich shop at the university I work at and was stunned to see that they outfitted the place with Jacobsen Series 7 chairs. Thinking they must be fakes, I flipped one over to reveal the Fritz Hansen tag. I surveyed the place, noting that not one occupant seemed to have the slightest clue what they were sitting on.
Of course, these have scratches in the seats from 2 years of use, but they've worn pretty well. the chrome still looks good and I didn't see any cracked chairs. Would love to talk to the person that ordered those

series 7
Nieman marcus in Dallas at there Bistro has about a 400 on the floor and they are all white and look so great .
I can truly say when you do a whole venue with them they sure do look cool.
on another note my buddy picked up 4 wood dcm at the flee market from some guy for 25 bucks each and the teak is in great condition... but some fool had to drill the backs cause they dried out and i guess he felt that was the only way to fix them .
Does anyone ever think about what Eames was really thinking when he made that chair? He was such a visionary and could almost see the future, i am so surprised he could not see around the corner and know that those great POTATO CHIP chairs would dry out and that most people would not have a clue on how to fix them,
sorta makes you really wonder!!!!
