couldn't agree more.
I'm so underwhelmed with this line. I guess it's better than nothing, but seriously it could be so much greater. It's like they aren't even trying.

I like the legs
and the white ash top, but the inlaid pattern ruins it for me.

Actually
I like it. I'm not going to buy it, but I find the select program generally interesting. At least, HM is doing previously unavailable designs. I've certainly seen uglier stuff.

This table
Has been produced by HM before. Just not with this ugly pattern. I would rather see the original re-issued.

The pattern on the table is...
The pattern on the table is the same pattern as the Flock of Butterflies clock that Nelson Associates did for Howard Miller. Vitra just reissued that clock this last year.

Understood.
That pattern should not be on a table top.

I would have rather seen...
I would have rather seen them just re do the side table exactly as it was done originally. I don't really mind that they may want to pay homage to the Nelson clock designs, but it just makes the simple table design look to busy, over-done. Plus there is the whole issue that the clocks were done for Howard Miller Co. and the table for Herman Miller Co. The Flock of Butterflies clock may have been designed by Irving Harper (I don't know for sure), he did a lot of designs for the Howard Miller clocks. One of of his pattern designs (I think sometimes called the Orchid design) was used on the front of a wall hung vanity and a wall hung spice cabinet for Howard Miller in 1964. One for sell on Ebay right now.

Yikes...
Don't like that table at all personally in either iteration. The "legs" look like shelf brackets and are too "contrasty". The whole thing looks like a mish-mash from the parts bin.

I have heard
I have heard that an unpatterned tray will be available at a later date. I'm not wild about the butterflies pattern and I would have liked the rectangular tray table much more than the circular.
