Hey all,
I picked this chair up off of Craigslist. It's probably going to end up on eBay (apparently five chairs in a studio apartment is too many) but before it goes anywhere, I'd like to see if I could figure out more about it.
Here's what I know
- It's a bright yellow.
- It has an Embossed Herman Miller Logo.
- It has a crescent logo above the HM Logo.
- It lists the patents.
- It has a small rectangular sticker with numbers that are too faded for me to read (located near the HM logo).
- It has the 'H' base.
- The guy I bought it from told me it'd been sitting in his basement for at least 30 years. No idea how truthful that is.
What more information would I need to get a firmer idea of when this was released? Is it even possible to date it?
Are there really obvious sites out there that I should've checked first before posting here? If so, sorry. I tried looking before I posted.
Thank you!

I hope
you didn't pay too much with that chunk out of the arm and the bleed-through on the seat.

Nah. But I already knew about those. Any help in finding out more information about it?

You can look up the patents...
You can look up the patents and find the date of the most recent one on the sticker. That might give you a starting point.

Epoxy
Looks original to me. Obviously no way to be absolutely sure from the photos.

original shock mounts, original epoxy and from the 60's
that's what i say.
some might say that the shock mounts had been re-glued perhaps due to the reflectiveness of the epoxy that causes someone to think it's "newer". but the reflectiveness of the epoxy (even original) is always higher than that of the shock mounts. so, shiny epoxy does not necessarily mean "newer" which leads to the notion of re-glue by default.
