I have no idea about the medallion vs sticker. I was unaware of a Selig stickers before about an hour ago.
Selig used stickers at some point instead of medallions.
Based on their 1958 patent filings, which show the cinch tight seat frame, we know that the cinch frame was earliest. And I don't think I've ever seen a cinch seat with the medallion, just the block letters on the stretcher or unmarked, so I believe the seat frame change and medallion were a simultaneous change.
There are definitely fewer stickers than medallions, so it must not have been long lived.
