I acquired this chair at a film set sale in Kalamazoo Michigan. The person I bought it from didn't have any information on the chair.

I'm trying to sell it and I'd like to find out who designed it.

I found a set of 4 for auction at Christie's, but there was no additional information about them.

A SET OF FOUR PLASTIC STACKING CHAIRS
CIRCA 1970
injection moulded plastic
28½in. (72.5cm.) high (4)

There are no markings on the chair to indicate where it came from.

chair identification
MakeupMomma,
Why not contact the department head at Christie's and get their answer to your identification question. Also, if the chairs sold at auction, would it not be possible to divide by the number of chairs sold at that price and get the approximate retail value of a single unit. You have a source, exploit them first. The simple answer is that they are worth what a buyer is willing to pay for an unknown commodity.

I have already exhausted my sources
I just figured someone on these boards may be able to offer assistance.
Original purchaser : contacted
Set Decorator : Contacted
Christie's : Contacted
I have googled and looked in books. I am not being lazy, just quite puzzled.

good luck
MakeupMomma,
I did not imply that you were lazy.
Should you not get an answer here you may want to look at the book 1000 Chairs by Taschen for a possible clue. I will look later when I have a moment.
I find it hard to belive that the sale price was not listed in a Christie's auction and you can not get a price from that available information.

My Guess
My Guess is UMBO, they also made plastic shelving units. I had the exact set on my site with the table. It sold rather quickly, heres a link for reference. http://www.vintagelooks.com/detail.asp?product_id=hw-4195

Amazing,
You're my hero today!
When I was going through the L'Utopie Du Tout Plastique-1960 ~ 1973 list, there were no pictures so I was looking each up individually. I must have misquoted or misspelled, because I remember searching for that.
You guys are rad, thank you so much.
