Ive done a similar...
Ive done a similar repair.
Sand around the damaged area with a rough grit.
Use a stainable and drillable hardening wood putty and mix with ground wood of the same type as top surface. (just sand small piece of wood and collect the powder).
Fill the damaged area and surrounding area. (leave it slightly raised above surface).
Let dry and then sand the entire table top levelling the patched area.
You can then gauge if the area will need stain or even painting in grain (use a small fine/sharp sharpie marker).
Varnish/finish the entire table top and it should look pretty good.

needing advice please
So I have repaired the top and sanded it down turned out great.
Now I'm starting to strip the legs that are painted white, now here is the thing. The paint on the table seems to look like it came that way, its sprayed on very well. I did a test patch and the wood has not been oiled.I did a test patch with teak oil and its still very light. The wood grain looks like teak.
I'm afraid that if I strip it all down it will look funny.
What should I do, any suggestions?????

Post a photo.
I would...
Post a photo.
I would be surprised if the Danes intentionally painted over teak. They were extremely aware of its cost. Oak grain can also look a lot like teak grain in certain situations, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a painted Danish piece or part executed in oak.
And all that said if it is teak and doesn't match well you can tint the oil to get a very good color match. Also, "teak oil" is often boiled linseed oil designed for exterior use which means it has UV blockers, which are basically dark particles that absorb the UV and get eaten away instead of the dark particles in the wood. So that sort of teak oil will darken teak, very significantly if applied enough times.

Can those photos be...
Can those photos be enlarged?
I can't tell what I am looking at. This would be a situation a huge photo would be useful in spite of how it displays in the forum.

I would guess it looks like beech (size is a bit difficult)
beech is very easily lacquered as it can be sanded down to a very smooth surface (in my experience anyway).
as you've begun the stripping (I am assuming you won't 'stripe' the legs)
I suppose you have complete it now until the end...
otherwise it will indeed look funny 🙂

good thing.....
Good thing for advil, so much scraping and sanding.
I'm curious on why they would use beech wood,
All the tables I have seen on line don't look like this. What kind of tint would u recomend?
It looks so silly, right now.
Good thing I'm a crazy danish furniture fan.
Thanks
Gabrielle

That photo is still too small...
That photo is still too small for me to tell what wood that is. But it does look like it is not teak. Could be beech as BJ suggested, oak, or many other species.
