I have come across a local seller that has a pair of what appears to be Wegner shell chairs model FH 1936 for Fritz Hansen. The chairs look to be the right dimensions and the teak and beech or oak appears to have the correct patina. The only issue is there is no Fritz Hansen stamp on them. Were these chairs ever produced without stamps and were/are there copies of this chair produced?
Thanks in advance!
the stamp
should be under the seat more or less in the middle but is rightly just ink so can have been washed off or just faded away.
the chair should have press studds for the cushions to attach to so look for those under the seat.
best would be to go armed with pictures of one and compare before handing over your cash.
I have not come across fakes of this chair but thats not to say there are non
mdcounts
you really shot yourself in the foot by asking about the chairs. Wasn't sure why you were doing that to begin with. I assume many knew they were on ebay as I did but it was likely that others didn't until one of your fellow DA's c@$%kblocked by posting the link. Hopefully you went today in person to secure a deal and the person forgot to take them off ebay as they are a newbie and may have forgotten.
