Has anyone tried this drawing program yet ? It's a free download in its basic version. I'm wondering if it differs in its approach from any other CADware. While it can be used to make measured 2D and 3D (so-called) sketches, it isn't intended to generate working drawings.

I'm at the beginning of its learning curve; I wonder if it's time to look at the pro version, or to invest in another program that might take me further.

So far it is the first thing I've encountered that has made me even a little bit enthusiastic about an alternative to my beloved pencil. . .

keep going, if its just for...
keep going, if its just for your own work and your'e not going to be showing a lot of it to clients its a great tool, the pro version is not that expensive and has extra features...you might notice that the google version exports a jpeg at pretty low res, your screen res is the limit. Continue with Sketchup or get 3d max by Autodesk. I use Sketchup because its so fast and simple and I can pull good dimension information off it very quickly and easily, but if you want to start collaborating and sharing your work around you should have a look at 3d max and all the autodesk products.
