May seem a banal question but does anybody know how thick a mattress would be best suited for a platform bed like the one above. Reason for asking is if the mattress is to thick it will undoubtedly dominate the piece of furniture in question.

Probably have to get a custom made foam mattress to get close to the original design. I'm sure there are some thin edge bed owners rolling around here. I'm curious if the support structure is compatible with a foam mattress.
