Hi there, we too have not received a promised refund from Modern Classics Direct. We're planning go to their offices in Croydon next week and if we manage to get our money refunded I'll let you know. If not, maybe we could join forces and contact BBC Watchdog about them? Would you be interested?

go for their accountants as they
have a duty to the accounts they sign off on and in this case the accounts are "cooked" at best and fraudulent at worst and therefore go for the accountants

explaining my problem which immediately after triggered a reaction from John Christopher who now promised me the refund. It then took a few more mails to/from John Christopher (john@cohenandchristopher.com) and involving Graham Cohen again before I finally received my refund in full yesterday.

Is Graham Cohen perhaps a rel...
Is Graham Cohen perhaps a relative of Christopher Cohen?? I know it's a fairly common name but even so they appear to live on the same street. Perhaps it's his dad?!
Incidentally i was stung by this company last year and exercised my right to a refund from my credit card company. The card company refunded the money back to me within a month and took up the investigation from there. I must warn you, though, that even if you have the safety net of credit card protection it doesn't always end there...
I then received a letter from the credit card company the next month stating that they had been in contact with Chris Cohen. The long and short of it was that the credit card company were going to TAKE BACK the money they had refunded unless I replied within several days with valid reasons for cancelling because Chris Cohen had stated that the goods I ordered were now ready for delivery, but he needed the payment in order to carry this out.
Fortunately there is plenty of disparaging info on this company on the internet - even the money saving expert, Martin Lewis blogged that he had been scammed by JMC Trading a couple of years ago. I was fortunately therefore able to prove how dodgy they were with a bundle of printouts and the credit card company did not take the money back from me.

and to answer your question "why so many negative reviews" because people that make knock-offs are criminals and so are the people that sell them.
take your chinese made crap and go away.........

JMC FURNITURE bad experience
Hello i have to add my comment to all other bad ones...
i have ordered Eames office chair in June 09, paid via credit card 2 days after the order... after 8 weeks i had call for having some news and they promised the delivery in ANOTHER 8 WEEKS!!! after 8 weeks and no news again i had called and emailed and they promised to finally order the chair? but they charged my credit card again.... so now it is about 20 weeks and double payment ????? just arnaque, nothing else... THEY WILL JUST TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DELIVER NOTHEING... tereza
