Picked the piece up at a Goodwill store recently for $30, not because of the name or value or even to flip, but simply because I really dig it (I plan on keeping this for a very long time). Anyway, I have a planned use for this piece and would love to see it restored or at least "refurbished" (deep scratches removed or minimized, etc), but I'm not sure where to begin. I've done some careful amatuer restorations in the past wit great results, but nothing of such importance or of high monetary value. While most of the unit is in very good shape for its age, the top does have some moderately deep scratches. My question is, does the top appear to be laminate or is it a wood veneer, because I know that they are two totally different animals and need to be approached rather differently. Without sanding into any of it, how do I tell if parts (top, sides, edges, etc) are veneer or laminate? Thanks in advance for any help, guidance and/or advice!
This store looks good and as said it has been refurbished but it still need some rennovation. As the name suggest Florence. I am also looking for the same material. But a small desk with storage for my son. My son checked this name on babynology and looking for the same brand? Where did you find it? Is there any other furniture available?
I too have a knoll desk that is walnut with a walnut veneer top. Attached is the photo of the original.
The one to repair has deep scratches on the walnut door. Also looking for black leg to make the side desk a stand alone - any suggestions for where to find and how to repair?
