I'm about to purchase this knoll table base only. The seller has confirmed it will be stable enough for a 54" marble top.
I'm intending on using my a 60" round piece of quartzite or similar size that I have left over from my kitchen install.
Will this base handle the approximately 225lbs of weight? And is it worth the $1,700 bucks? The images clearly show "Knoll Studio Florence Knoll" on the foot of the base.
Personally I don't really care about the brand without an authentic table, I just want something with this look that will safely hold the table.
Approximately how much should this base only weigh?
Thanks for your input!!

ok.
Without going into detail, you should consider passing on the Knoll table. Essentially, you are going to re-invent an expensive lovely table.. with your new stone top idea.

I can't see the picture, but I can answer your questions anyway.
"Will this base handle the approximately 225lbs of weight?"
Yes.
"And is it worth the $1,700 bucks?"
No.

Wow this forums is great!...
Wow this forums is great! Thanks for the prompt responses.
Essentially I'm looking for a somewhat modern base and I think this one would look nicely.
Any other suggestions with that budget in mind?
I'm about to squeeze the trigger - been sitting table-less for over a year. It will cost me about $750 to edge up the quartzite and another 1,700 to get the base delivered. then would have to buy chairs....
In a perfect world with no budget, I'd buy the Claton table and chairs from minotti 😉

Mark, are you suggesting
that the pairing would be ok if the base were much less expensive? If so, I agree. I've seen complete tables (with wood tops, not marble, but still) for not much more than what Jezebel's seller wants for his base alone; it seems silly to spend Knoll prices for a non-Knoll table.
However, if she's able to find a base for significantly less money, I don't think there would be anything inherently wrong with pairing it with the top of her choice.
I have a Florence Knoll dining table whose large oval top was sized appropriately for my old house... But now I live in a smaller apartment, so here it has a non-Knoll 78" x 42" rectangular top. It's not as dramatic as with the big oval, but I think it looks fine, and I certainly prefer it to all the alternative tables I considered when I moved here.
