I've just acquired a Finn Juhl Diplomat chair (it was sat out the back of a second hand shop being used as the 'smoking' chair!!), beautiful solid rosewood frame and an oatmeal flecked fabric rather than leather, all as it should be, but with no France and Sons or Cado markings. Was this design made by other manufacturers aswell? I don't doubt that it is the chair in question, just confused as to the lack of markings and wondering if anyone else has come across this?
2nds
could be a senconds with a tiny fault in it so not marked.
This is typical of Danish product branding. If the finished product fails final scrutiny the maker wont mark it.
Sometime the early FF items are marked with a faint stamp in gold on a side rail. It someone has been too vigorous and sanded the frame they mark could have been removed that way.
Hansen & Sorensen
I've had a pair for a few years, they have no markings. Definitely look and feel 60s.
According to the design museum, it appears that Hansen & Sorensen also manufactured this chair for a spell. Going off the order of inclusion on the site, it appears they may have been the original manufacturers ? also, not sure how they labeled their furniture ?
Hello everyone
Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum. What a marvelous website.
I love furniture of all periods. Looking for new direction, I started buying 20th century furniture six months ago, which is when I found this website. I've since been following it with great interest, and learnt quite a few things. This thread interested me particularly, so I finally registered.
I bought a set Finn Juhl Diplomat chairs for my home, from a rather reputable, London dealer. They have no label or markings. I'm not sure about the earlier comments of over analysis. They're excellent quality throughout. Obviously of age. Wonderfully comfortable..
Unlike the original posting, I paid quite a sum for the chairs, however I can afford to.

While we wait
Here are some other diplomats without makers mark. Since they are on the radar I figure it is ok to link to them
