So far I have found out that the Eames Ea117 is not a Herman Miller, but a Vitra. Miller does not use a EA-code.

There are differences between Vitra furniture and Herman Miller and we have talked about it many times on this forum, it appears the most prominent one is the different bases on the Eames Lounge chair here in America we call it 670 and 671 and the bases for Vitra are the star bases used on the original aluminum group that Eames introduced in 1958

A friend of mine has both HM and Vitra aluminium Eames chairs, and I noticed the pitch on the arms varies slightly between some of them when they're round her dining table
(they're usually scattered around her house, but she has an amazing 10 feet wide dining table which can accomodate a lot of chairs, and guests )
