Its even supposedly signed with red monogram. Price is kind of steep and going up. But typing or computing at this stand would be better than having to sit in one of his chairs.
Ah, the Mephisto metaphor worked...
I have two pairs (one sandle, one tie) that I have worn for years and years. It took awhile, but their durability (and my willingness to keep wearing them after they went out of style) finally made their upfront cost well worth it.
Regarding the FLW table, isn't it ordinary? But for the edging, not a single thing about it I wouldn't have done with my table saw and glue. Well, maybe I couldn't have done the edging, but then I'd rather it didn't have the edging. 🙂
Although
the photo reads much too dark (on my screen) for me to sayWright did a line of wood furniture for Henredon in the fifties, of which this may be a part.
Many feel that Wright's designs weakened in his last decade. This group of pieces (cases, tables and an upholstered chair, perhaps) were composed of simple slab panels with a characteristic molding used as an accent along the edges of tops and vertically as well. They have been the least sought of his furniture designs, historically, I believe.
