Hi Guys (& Girls),
I've stumbled upon a local ad for a fake Egg chair, described as
being Italian produced. It turns and has a tilt function, seller states
upholstery is leather.
What baffles me is that the thing looks so good in the picture?!
The leather has that nice cold shine and almost looks vintage.
Or am I loosing it here?
Maybe the seller posted a pic of a genuine chair? Or are there high quality
fakes on the market? Do you know of any italian ones?

(to be clear)
I am not interested in buying fakes or stimulating this market.

The photo is
much too small to be able to see the quality of the details, and you can't tell how it swivels or gauge the foam quality or comfort of the chair from a photo.

In other words,
there's an awful lot that you can't tell from that photo alone.

Looks fake to me
Unless the photo is distorted, the curves of the chair look close but not right for Fritz Hansen production.
If the seller tells you it's Italian production, why would you think its anything other than fake? Most times dubious sellers are being vague in hopes that you will think it's real. Sounds like this seller is being honest about it being a knock-off.

🙂
I know, I know...
The seller indeed states the chair is a reproduction, but I was dreaming that maybe, just maybe, the owner bought a chair for a very low price, thinking
it was...
I know, I know...
I see know the foot is completely wrong...
