I thought that I would share this Eames Office related piece from my collection and a memory. The primitive close-up lenses came with camera #4 along with a letter of provenience from the owner who worked at 901 Washington Blvd.
I remember a vacation trip to Wisconsin in 1971 and visiting my father's uncle in Egg Habor near Green Bay, WI. Earlier that summer he was given a SX-70 to test before they were available to the public. It was a fascinating camera that captivated everyone who witnessed its magic.
Cheers to Mr. Land and the Impossible Project for keeping his magic alive, to the 901 Washington employees who participated in making the SX-70 orientation film and finally to uncle Joe who was a great american inventor in his own right... if you consider the Snap-On Wrench a worthy design.

Thanks Smoggy
A nice story and a great camera. I have on exactly the same and it is a fine design. Instant artifacts are so much better when they are magically conjured from the belly of the beast. For me, this beats the soulless capture
of digital data any day.
Tick 🙂

Lovely object,
isn't it. I guess that's leather inlaid into the formed aluminum (?) body ?
Snap-on tools are perfectly lovely, too -- as finely shaped as sculpted surgical instruments, minimally elaborated.
I hope Land fans will have read this revealing and absorbing book:

Got one, too, so nice to look at but keep mine closed.
Its vinyl with chromed plastic, I think.
