Howdy y'all -
Picked up this red Eames lounger recently, and it has some interesting features beyond its custom color:
o cushions sourced from Burbank (not Michigan or Illinois).
o handwritten yellow grease pen marks on inside of seat panels and inside of armrests; and
o seat-back and seat-bottom cushions each retained with a single snap button (rather than two, which I think was standard for this clip style);
o remnants of larger Herman Miller cloth labels on underside of chair and ottoman;
o chair glides with smaller-diameter threaded studs;
o push-on ottoman glides;
o armrests are attached with three screws; and
o slotted pan-head fasteners retaining all cushion clips (rather than the later Phillips countersunk screws).
Any thoughts on what we have here? My gut tells me this is a very early example and possibly one assembled at the Eames Office (cushion supplier was ~22 miles from the Eames Office). But I've been wrong before and don't want to spew any nonsense.

for reference...
Below are some pics of the cushion tags on my other two Eames loungers.
The cushion from Burton-Dixie (Chicago) belongs to a three-screw armrest version with the smaller threaded glide shanks.
The cushion from Stephenson and Lawyer (Grand Rapids) belongs to a three-screw armrest version with the larger (standard) threaded glide shanks.
Hopefully I haven't stumped all of you, but if that is the case, maybe it is worth documenting some of these cushion tags... Anybody else feel like opening up a lounge cushion and sharing a pic?
