I'm hoping that someone out there can point me in the right direction to track down a replacement source of the rubber edgebanding that was used on the upholstered versions of the Eames fiberglass armshell chairs.
About 6 or 7 years ago I plucked a black fiberglass, high-back, with the aluminum group base. It's "upholstered" with a molded foam piece that is sanwiched between the fiberglass seat and a formed one piece black vinyl outer layer. There is a seat cushion upholstered in black and white check Girard fabric.
Sounds like a great score right? Unfortunately the rubber piece that runs around the edges of the chair forming a "seam" between vinyl and fiberglass was missing and it looks like hell without it.
Any ideas? While I'd love to find something that is identical to the original I'm open to random thoughts and ideas of alternatives that would achieve the same function.
