I'm looking to purchase an Eames management chair but so far have been unsuccesful in convincing my SO to pay $1995 (DWR) for an original repro. Most of the knock-off's I've seen have ugly, bulky, black mechanisms clearly visible beneath the seat. The cleanest version I've seen so far is from moderndose.com (they sent me photos by e-mail). However, the warning bells went off when they wrote "Please note that as an exact copy of the original, the seat height of this chair reaches a max. of 18" and is most suitable to a person of 5'6 or shorter." Huh? I sat in the DWR chair yesterday (measured to a seat height of 17.5"), and found it to be fine (and I'm definitely over the noted height suggestion). Has anyone else heard this before? Anyone purchased from moderndose.com before? Recommendations on other sources?

Ebay
Search ebay, you can find some good finds for less than 1900. Or go DWR if you're worried about quality. See existing posts about repro quality vs. licensed quality.
