Eames DCM Authenticity — Exposed hardware

I'm in the process of trying to figure out the authenticity of this chair. I've noticed it has oval mounting brackets on the back which is indicative of an Eames manufacture vs Evans, but the exposed hardware on the seat surface is throwing me off. No labels, etc.

1) "exposed hardware" = DIY drilled repair
2) the backrest is upside down (although one benefit of the DIY drilled repair is that this is now an easy fix)
3) Eames is a designer. Herman Miller and Evans are/were manufacturers.
4) All of the above, I learned on this site (well except for the Eames and HM parts)
