Ebay.
That's where I found mine. You just have to be patient; every once in a while, a Sofa Compact appears that isn't torn up or upholstered in mustard-yellow vinyl.
There are sometimes good deals at traditional auctions (Wright, LAMA, Treadway, etc.), too.
And it's amazing what you can find on Craigslist if you check it obsessively.
Lucky find fastfwd..
Fastfwd, thanks for the suggestions. If you don't mind my asking - How much of a deal was the compact sofa on Ebay?
Amazing as it might sound I don't know how to navigate or post on Ebay. I have several pieces of art work I'd like to sell & the word is I should sell it on Ebay.
Thanks again.
My deal
My Ebay deal, for a premium-fabric Sofa Compact in exquisitely perfect condition, was about 60% off the street price of a base-fabric new one.
Ebay's not hard to navigate; give it a try. Type something into their search box and see what shows up. Some tips:
1. To search for a phrase, surround it with quotes:
"herman miller"
will find auctions that include that two-word phrase but not auctions that include the words "herman" or "miller" by themselves.
2. To exclude words or phrases, precede them with a minus sign:
"herman miller" -aeron
will find auctions that include the phrase "herman miller" but DON'T also include the word "aeron".
3. To search for either one of two terms, put the terms in parentheses separated by commas:
("herman miller",vitra)
will find auctions that include EITHER the phrase "herman miller" or the word "vitra".
4. Capitalization in your search terms is ignored; all-lowercase will find any combination of upper and lowercase.
Good luck...
Someone's selling
a rare Eames 3473 sofa on eBay for 4500 bucks and he's in Pasadena!
Golly, the Compact sells for 3299 and the 3473 is 1000% rarer! Check it out.

Golly...
... that's a lot of money for a 3473.
Nice ad, too. The text is just eamesoffice.com's stock 3473 description bracketed on both sides by "This is a rare sofa". It doesn't include even a single word describing the sofa's condition, and the photos show only its rear upper-left corner. For all we know, the front of the sofa could be spray-painted green, and a small fire might have been burning on the seat while the photos were being taken.
Compact sofa /ebay... fastfwd...
Fastfwd, hey thanks for the tips on navigating Ebay, do appreciate it,definately helpful information. Good news about shipping costs, $150 is very reasonable.
Found your comment humorous about a small burning fire not seen in the photo. Have yet to check it out.
Thanks
Light as a feather..
Wow, the compact sofa is incredibly light compared to a normal sofa,my B&B Charles sofa is very heavy, sure wish it weighed less.
Many of you here seem quite knowledgable, I'm curious how much a used but, in mint condition, B&B Charles sofa in linen fabric could sell for? Of course it's not a valuable collectible piece as some mid-century furnishings are however I may like to sell it.
