Matt90
I'm also too tall to properly fit in an Eames 670/671 (over 6'4") so I prefer other chairs to lounge in. I've found the womb chair, the chieftain chair, and Wegner's papa bear chair, halyard chair and CH445 all very comfortable and scaled generously enough for someone my size. I even like the egg chair if it's fitted with the tilt function. There are others as well, but these are a few of the more iconic designs that I think accommodate us taller people.
My feeling is that it's better to find the chair that is a correct fit than to suggest that a design be altered to suit me. If you are not comfortable in an Eames lounge, why not find one you are comfortable in? There are a number of great designs to choose from. I don't think we need modern classics in every size... just like shoes.

Whitespike, honey...I was kidding too!
But coming from a family where my mother is the shortest @ 5'10", I definitely understand where your dad and Pegboard-M are coming from. My brother-in-law is 6'8" and I have a cousin who is 6'9" (2 metres)...what can I say we're Southern Swedes. Ever since I became aware of design, I've had to live by the adage of 'Form over Function'. If the design is not proportioned for someone well over 6 feet tall then it's just not going to work. I'm a big fan of the Womb chair as it seems very well proportioned for taller folk.
And Charles Eames looks like he was at least 6 feet based on this famous shot.

I've always liked that...
I've always liked that famous photo. But where are the gals? And how did Art Buchwald end up in the womb chair?
🙂

Oh, the gals are there...
they are just elsewhere in the magazine...
Matt90, your comment reminds me of what the focus groups surrounding the concepting of the Mini Cooper Clubman must have sounded like; "I like the LOOK of the Mini, it's just not big enough".
Leave it alone already, I'm with Pegboard, find something else.

What the hell? Do you HAVE to have an Eames lounge? If it doesn't work, then find something else. It's just a chair for chrissakes.

Or, you can get one
And not sit in it.
That way, it won't break.

Function first...
I agree...you can get your eye candy full of the Eames lounge all over the place. Choose what works for you. It's really the only thing that makes sense!
Oh, and we closed on our house yesterday...Woo Hoo!
