Hi, Lynn
The man who makes the beds is named Lance O'Steen. His email is osteenl@gforcecable.com. In the photos below, I took off a few of the slats so you could see how the bed fits together. The two nightstands clamp on and they were included in the price of the bed. It all comes apart for easy shipping, although very heavy.
It SO depends on where you're located!
I'm in Minneapolis and I've never seen anything really high-end on sale here on Craig's list.
Besides, I have always felt more comfortable buying from established stores or on eBay, where at least you can get a level of protection against rip-offs...if you pay with a credit card.
You just have to work at it
I am perhaps too much of a neophyte to know how good of a find this was or wasn't (that I picked up in the van an hour ago), but this set of
FDB Mobler chairs by Borge Mogensen (I believe it is Borge) sat on a Craigslist listing since Jan 26, with no interest, until I emailed this morning and then picked them up for $40 for the set. Original finish, excellent condition.
Thanks. They were badly...
Thanks. They were badly described in the Craigslist listing, although the ad did mention "Made in Denmark", and I would have thought someone would have jumped on it in the past 25 days or so. The photo in the ad was not flattering, foreshortening the chairs so the legs looked stubby, and not long and elegant. Of course, there was no mention of FDB Mobler in the ad. I guess the moral of the story is that even in a hot MCM market like I live in, stuff can go overlooked on Craigslist, even though I often tend to think everything good gets snapped up immediately. The chairs are rock solid. I really like them.
...
Wow what, that is awesome, around here they wouldn't have lasted 1 minute. Lately, all I see is junk or overpriced crap. When something this wonderful comes along a greedy wanna be dealer swoops them up and resell on CLs for 10 times what they purchased them for. Oh well.
I have a set I picked up a few years back but not for $40 bucks, mine have a darker patina. They seem a little low as I was going to use them as dining chairs. Then decided to use them around the house as side chairs. I love the simple form they have. Anywho, what a steal!
Now off to check CLs.
This argument has been made before, in this forum--
and I don't quite understand the reasoning ( :it's okay to buy low, then sell high, on Craig's List... so long as you don't sell TOO high, or too SOON after initial purchase).
I can only assume that people find this practice morally-objectionable because it aggravates those who WOULD have liked to buy the item at the initial low price(?).
I can understand people being peeved that they missed a bargain, but one shouldn't confuse sour grapes with moral indignation.
There's no difference, morally, between the person who buys the $1,000 item for $50, then keeps it for their own use; and the person who buys the $1,000 item for $50, then sells it for $1,000. If you disagree, explain.
(let me state for the record that I've never bought or sold on Craig's List.)
surely not................
