mgee, back to your original chests of drawers--Illums Bolighus currently sells some Eames stuff and I think I've seen other American designs there in the past though I don't remember specific items. The first time I was ever there was in the early 90s, well before your pieces were made so I can't say for sure about them. The store has also carried stuff by lesser known designers so I guess it's not out of the question that these dresses may be American made. But I think it's more likely that they were by a lesser known Danish (or at least Scandinavian) designer.
Did you get a chance to look at every surface of every drawer? Sometimes there's a stamp or incised mark on a the back end of the side of a drawer. Danes are so modest.

Thanks, spanky... I honestly have not been very involved in this. If I had, the pictures would be much better. This stuff is halfway across the country from me, and has been sent by a friend in the hopes that I could help ID it. I'll relay the request to inspect those parts, along with the back of the mirror, when I speak to her next.

The vintage Illums Bolighus catalogs also have at least one Italian piece in them. A Gio Ponti chair. Not that I think it looks Italian, but sold at Illums Bolighus is not a 100% guarantee of Danish/Scandinavian manufacture

The mirror looks pretty Kjersgaard-ish too me. Plus, from what I can see on the picture, there is a K stamped which Kjersgaard used to indicate Kristal Glas (source: J. Kjersgaard).
Man, what a fantastic collection!

Monsieur Le Docteur Poulet: I believe you have nailed the mirror. Aksel Kjersgaard: http://www.lauritz.com/Item/ItemImage/ItemImagePage.aspx?LanguageId=1&It...

Are you sure the dressers have Illums Bolighus tags on them? Given that the mirror is not matched to them, as it had initially appeared, I see very little reason to believe they were purchased in Denmark.

This thread has made me smile so much, what an amazing collection! To have built a collection like that they must have been such a pleasure, thanks for giving me a glimpse of the dream!

Thank you, DrPoulet, for clearing this all up! It would seem you are right, lief, and that they most likely American. I don't believe the dressers have tags or markings of any kind. Sorry for all the confusion!

I wonder if Design Within Reach would know about the dressers as they bear a super strong resemblance to the American modern bedroom dresser line.....some strong inspiration . Ha

Design Within Reach stole(?) the "American Modern" name coined by Russel and Mary Wright for all their designs (Conant Ball, Steubenville and others) in the late 1930's and the DWR case goods/beds was supposed to have been "inspired" (knock-off) of George Nelson's designs for Herman Miller.
I am not so sure if DWR was inspired, it's more like they plagiarized.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but just wanted to provide confirmation of Hans Wegner as the designer for the Johannes Hansen table with tray. It was part of their booth displays at the guild exhibitions of 1950 and either '51 or '52 (there is some discrepancy in the attached photos, the last one coming from the Bernsen book). The table even gets a small mention in one of the review comments in the Ditzel volume. I have yet to find a model number associated with it.
Another example of this table is coming up for auction in Palm Beach next week.
Funny that this thread was started just because of the basic dresser ID.
