Would anyone be interested in a bit of friendly competition? I was thinking of something along the lines of an 'affordable coffee table in timber' those are the materials you have to work with and you post an image/sketch for critique. No constraints on finish or dimensions.
Obviously good grace and tongue holding would be a requirment, no fighting 🙂
Since we were just commenting on FLW's use of...
diagonals of rectangles within broader horizontal rectangle patterns in one of his houses, dare you play around with introducing any diagonal windows in the table frame horizontals joining the legs to give this piece a bit of an up lift?

I've allways wanted to do a design for a knockdown coffee table that uses Aalto "ears" (tabs)and some steam bent beech, turned the opposite way. White ply etc etc, pictures later. It strikes me as a really obvious design that I'm suprised was never pursued. No doubt it has been elsewhere.
I'm ignorant
of Pesce's work, I'm afraid. Is there wood ? Or orthogonal forms ? (I call these "sticks and boards". . .) The pieces of his shown in the designer's index here don't seem to hit me.
I could see any number of elaborations of this form -- but I like to make a minimal version of an idea, as the basic prototype. Functionally, the large glue surfaces here replace the need for any diagonal members -- and the joinery is VERY simple !
Thanks for the comments and questions.
As for the table idea with Aalto "trees" as removable legs (if I have that right) -- I like it, and (though it *must* exist somewhere) I haven't seen it -- yet !
