just a thought, but you...
just a thought, but you could wait until around summer for the 50th anniversary lounge and ottoman. I was at the herman miller studio this past week and a worker there was telling me about it. some rain forest veneer - a renewable source they found. but maybe 50th anniv special edition is too tacky for some tastes. fair enough
Eames 50th Anniversary
Hello Design Addicts:
The Eames 50th Anniversary Lounge and Ottoman are currently available for order from authorized Herman Miller for the Home retailers and Herman Miller, Inc. dealers in the US. The exhibition will begin at the Museum of Art and Design in NYC in May. ? Herman Miller will be holding an open house on Saturday, May 20 at the museum. The exhibition will move to Grand Rapids, MI in October. Among other interesting displays the exhibition will have a full size exploded Lounge and Ottoman (all parts suspended within a framed box).

How can I tell if it's echt or ersatz Eames?
Hello, I'm clueless! But thankfully my Google-search quest for knowledge has led me here.
I just bought an Eames(y) chair off Craigslist, and was hoping to find a checklist of ways to tell if it's the real thing or not. I flipped it over and didn't notice any obvious marks. Can anyone tell just by looking?

Eames Foundation - Ultimate Gift
the eames foundation ultimate gift chair is fanastic - absolute dream chair! has anyone tried buying it in the uk yet, as it says:
'There are delivery charges for shipments outside the continental USA. The costs are determined by geographic area once your shipping information is known to us.'
Also does anyone know how much tax would be to bring it into the UK?
Really seriously considering this, but need a bit more info on cost!
Charles Eames Lounger
Hi Torres,
I want to buy an authentic Eames lounger and ottoman. I live in London. The equivalent chair and ottoman is in excess of £5,000 with the Vitra license. How does the chair and ottoman that you have on sale differ from those available through the authorised Vitra model sellers? Why is it so much cheaper?
Herman Miller
The chairs I sell are Herman Miller chairs - authentic with papers, in HM box etc.
I actually do not know whether the authentic Miller chair differs from the Vitra edition - check this thread "Eames lounge chair : why European are the Turkey of Vitra ?" - I think it´s a few pages down - it´s also about Vitra pricing.
All Vitra product for EU are more expensive than exact same Miller items for US market.
I have a friend in the US with access to Miller products and since I have containers going from US anyway I can fit a few chairs in from time to time. We could probably charge more for the chairs but I think the price is reasonable...
I only have a walnut w camel leather in stock now - so if you are looking for walnut/ black leather lead time will be about 7-8 weeks.
