It's marked with a "V", something that looks like a part of the Herman Miller logo an a stamped "I". Hope you can help?

Thanks, can you say something about the period? The chair has got fine tread shock mounts in a wide mount configuration for the stackable base.

Is that raised mark supposed to be the HM logo ? Quite a distortion of the original design, no ?

It is a European shell from the Felbhaum production. The V signifies Vitra. European shells have had a number of branding/ sticker combinations. I have seen that raised Herman Miller logo on many, just how it came out of the factory. Enjoy your original shell 🙂 !
