Stool and Nails
I'm been thinking I could make some pretty serious stools out of the raw end pieces. They are plenty thick at just over 3 inches thick and wide enough for any bottom. Plus its an easy way to enjoy the grain up close and personal like. Since its a rectangular block, what would be the best way to go about making a nice depression for the seating surface??
I haven't decided if the ancient nails add a certain rustic charm or if they are just a thorn in my side since there seem to be more than a few and they are not easy to pull. I just have images of some poor guest sitting on my rustic stool and painfully finding a 200 year old nail.
Also, I'm crazy about the grain pattern on the wood.I spent 20 mins with a power hand sander and the grain just popped out like crazy. What's the best way to bring out the pattern even more without covering with lacquer?
Thanks again!
