I'm stumped!
I have a complete service for eight of California Petalware, including serving bowls, and a centerpiece, but I haven't been able to find any information on the provenance of these dishes. Every search that I've done on the internet has been a dead-end, or it refers to Petalware which is very distinct from California Petalware.
I bought the set, on a whim, at an art deco expo in San Francisco, I think in 2000. The seller showed me a cover of a 1948 Heywood Wakefield catalog and the service was on the cover. Since then they've been in storage and the curiosity is driving me insane.
I hope that someone can help me get information on this dinner service.
Below is a link to photos that I've posted on Flickr.

not to reference another website...
but have you tried posting on Modish.net? It's not a very busy forum but it's focus is on mid-century dinnerware and several of the people there know their **** when it comes to dishes.
