I looked at many kettles over the last two weeks. Online and in stores.
And nearly hit the 'buy' button a few times. One came with a free slip-over-the-handle
pot holder thingy. Very bad. And bad design if the handle gets 'to hot to handle'.
And maybe no one cares :).
Form and function is good design. I didn't want decoration like the Michael Graves design.
The Eva Zeisel Chantal just had an odd form for my kitchen.
My mini RevereWare needed a pot holder. Something one uses every day should not be
annoying.
I use it for morning coffee, Chemex, heating travel mugs, Vietnamese and Thai cooking.
(pouring over rice noodles) Tea etc. Often a few times a day.
The Honer harmonic whistle will wake the dead, and when i received it yesterday and gave it
a first cleaning i did walk out the front door thinking we had an air raid. But it is not the
screaming whistle that has you running. (i know the sound now, two tone and builds slow-
no running)
Great design. Balanced well when pouring. Does not cause elbow accrobatics. lid stays put
unlike most in the store that clanked to the floor. No metal-on-metal scraping of the lid.
It has a nice mild fit with a rubber gasskit. It is big ( 2.5 capacity would be better.)
Just a pleasure to end a search with satisfaction.
Wanted to share and if only one person cares it is worth it.
(i did get lucky and found a new one on e-bay for 50, but it is well worth 120)
