I agree they do look best from a distance. Those welds looks quite awful.

The enterprising owner could disassemble them and beat the metal corners upward -- but why didn't the maker attend to that ?

Anthroplogie clothing is generally poorly made and very overpriced. Guess the same is true of their furniture, too. Or these stools, at least.

Anthropology gets them
this place http://fromthesourceny.com/ so they are not exclusive to Anthropologie. At first they looked nice to me too, but in addition to that non conforming base, I was afraid I would see them everywhere. I wound up getting some vintage Swiss architects stools for about the same price.
